Welcome back to a new year! Here’s hoping things around the world improve, and our little piece of it remains relatively unaffected, so we can continue enjoying our freedom to travel domestically and rediscovering the hidden wonders of our magnificent country.
Our office is back open after a welcome 2 week break and we are ready to take on any challenges that may come our way.

Accountant
I graduated with my Bachelor of Business back in 2004, but only started working in the tax accounting field in 2006 after taking a bit of a working gap year after my university graduation. Since starting in the Tax Accounting field, I tried my hand at Management Accounting for two years between 2011 and 2013, before ultimately realising that Taxation Accounting is where my passion lies.
At this time, the former business owner, Joe Oram, was looking to hire another accountant, so I applied for the position and was successful, starting in June 2013 with the firm. During 2014 Joe decided that he would like to retire from accounting and follow his passion in farming. At this point in time he offered me the opportunity to purchase the business from him. It was an offer I could not pass up. In October 2014 the business sale was finalised and I haven’t looked back!

I am really fortunate to be supported by an amazing team who help make sure the business runs smoothly so we can all look after our fantastic clients every day. Without them being willing to sacrifice time away from their families, I would not be able to do what I do, and keep a smile on my face.
Prior to working as an accountant I have worked a variety of roles in fast food, cafes, retail and the tourism industries, all of which gave me a set of skills that have helped me in my role as an accountant today.
Accountant
I graduated from CQ University in September 2008 after completing a Bachelor of Business (Accounting). After graduating, I began working at a local accounting firm and worked there until June 2014.
During this time, I worked with Mandy and met different staff and clients. I was able to have the opportunity to meet clients that ran small businesses, to clients that operated large enterprises, some even having multiple large businesses.
After having a year off on maternity leave with my beautiful daughter, I came to realise there is more to life than just work. I decided that it was time for change in focus and sought different employment options. After hearing about Mandy purchasing the business I approached her to see if she would be able to offer me a position.
Mandy and her team, were able to offer me the flexibility of work hours and days, relaxed working environment and a less stressful workload. I am now a working mother of three beautiful children that I get to see grow up and not miss the important milestones and achievements that will occur, whilst working 3 days a week.
The decision to join Mandy and the team at Joe Oram & Associates in June 2015 is one that I don’t regret.
CPA Accountant
I graduated from University in 2002 with a Bachelor of (Business Accountancy). From there onwards I have worked in various accounting firms as a tax accountant.
I became a CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant) in 2012, achieving a high distinction in Taxation.
The thing I like most about my job here at Joe Oram and Associates is the one on one client contact. You get to meet a wide variety of people and there is nothing more satisfying than gaining the trust and confidence from clients.
I perform a wide variety of tasks here at Joe Oram and Associates, including assistance with setting up bookkeeping/accounting needs (whether it be a computerised or a manual system), taxation obligations and all necessary compliance needs throughout the year.
I have gained a wide variety of experience using various computerised accounting software packages including; Xero, Reckon (Quickbooks), MYOB, Cashflow manager and their online substitutes, to name a few.
I was born and raised in Biloela, being local to the area all my life. I even get the pleasure of seeing clients that I haven’t seen since my high school days. It’s surprising how many Biloela clients come into Joe Oram and Associates for their taxation needs.
I starting working at Joe Oram and Associates in May 2016 and haven’t looked back. Mandy Wallace (the business owner) and fellow staff members are wonderful to work with. There is a real “family vibe” in the office, with a relaxed and friendly environment.
I look forward to meeting many new clients in the future…..
Office Manager
I joined Joe Oram & Associates in 2011, and have seen the restructuring of the business after Joe and Helen retired and sold the business to Mandy in 2014.
After a few years as a Receptionist in a job share role, the full time position of Office Manager was offered to me when Mandy took over,which I gladly accepted.
I enjoy the work environment here, with our different personalities we have many laughs and like to keep the atmosphere friendly and casual with our clients. Mandy is very mindful when it comes to creating an environment that has a healthy work / life balance, considering the majority of us are working mums the flexibility Mandy affords us is greatly appreciated, and is one of the major bonuses of working here.
Customer Service Officer
I commenced part time employment with the Joe Oram and Associates team in February 2013 in a job share position as an administration assistant. Our office had a smooth transition when Mandy Wallace purchased the business from Joe Oram in 2014.
Throughout my working life I have enjoyed working in a professional office environment with a variety of responsibilities and tasks offered. I have the benefit of working with our friendly team of co-workers. It is a pleasure being the first point of contact for our clients and to assist them with their taxation needs.
After leaving school I began working full time as an Office Junior and Receptionist for a local Solicitors’ office. Within 12 months I had commenced working as a legal secretary. I worked for two Solicitors firms over a period of approximately 9 years. I then commenced part time work as a secretary for a local valuation firm for approximately 12 years. I have over 20 years experience as an administration officer and I am fortunate in that I have enjoyed all my positions in a variety of offices during my working life.
